The period from 1941 to the summer of 1944 was a "tearing apart" of Thesprotia by the Romans. The Greek (occupation) administration in the prefecture was paralyzed. In its place, there was an informal but substantial Albanian administration with political, police, and military organs. This administration had a national-socialist political character and functioned not only in practice but also programmatically alongside the German occupation forces. Its activities included the expulsion of a large part of the Christian population from the region through systematic exercise of armed violence.

However, as happened with all the minorities that relied on the Axis card for the realization of their political plans, the countdown began from the moment the political-military framework from which they drew their power collapsed. However, for the case of the Muslim Chams of Thesprotia, there is a peculiarity: it is not the Red Army that tears apart the pro-Nazi administration, but the forces of Zervas as part of the Allied armed forces. This peculiarity will have consequences due to the Greek Civil War. Zervas' actions, including his actions against the armed Chams, had to be characterized with a similar political sign in the Left's narrative.

The Cham party in neighboring Albania essentially repeats a narrative that has its roots in the communicative expediencies of the Greek Civil War. Those who accept that History is "constructed" socially should be prepared to welcome other, more radical "constructions" through the communist ruins of the Balkans. The era favors them.
