Update: It is very important to take the exact dosage stated because from the studies that have been conducted, the treatment for urinary tract infection is 2 grams of mannose every 2 hours. Update: For women who claim that it does nothing, I have the following to say:
a) Mannose has been proven to be as effective as nitrofurantoin (an antibiotic) against E. coli, based on randomized studies. It is not recommended for other pathogens.
b) The way it is taken (quantity, frequency, and initiation) is of great importance.
c) Maintenance after the urinary tract infection is also of great importance.
d) It does not apply to selective urinary tract infections (stones, urethral strictures, malignancies, neurogenic bladder, prolapse, history of free flow uroflowmetry, etc.)
e) All urinary discomforts do not exist due to any microbial cause of cystitis...that's why there are urologists.
f) If urinary tract infection episodes are >3 within a 6-month period and especially >3 within 1 trimester, then it is most likely the formation of several micro-nests => continuous use is unfortunately necessary, trimester (always with the instruction of a urologist).
g) It may indeed not help a woman, just as it would be the case with a specific antibiotic...
