The DFPlayer Mini is a compact and inexpensive MP3 module that can be connected directly to the speaker.     Unfortunately, I probably ended up with a defective one (that's what cheap ones have). When connected to a breadboard, it didn't produce any sound. I tried another one and it worked perfectly. Searching on YouTube, I saw that some of these cheap ones have issues with the soldering

    It works perfectly. I used it for an electronic music box and I wanted it to play only one song in a loop when the box lid opens.

    I didn't need to connect it to an Arduino as the task I wanted to accomplish could be done simply by connecting the IO_1 or IO_2 pin to ground.
