Description

"The Bear's Reason" was written by Julio Cortázar in 1952. Specifically, it appears in a letter from Paris to a couple of his friends in Buenos Aires, as a gift for their children. In 1962, he includes it in his book "Stories of the Cronopios and the Famas", that is, in a book for adults, but with this edition "The Bear's Reason" finds again the audience to which it was initially addressed, that is, children, dressed in the charming designs and colors of Emilio Urberuaga.

It is the story of a bear who, hidden in the pipes of an apartment building in the city, observes the everyday people who live in her apartments, plays with them, captivates them with her liveliness, without them having any idea who is causing these pranks. The element of fantasy, the disarming look at the reality of everyday life, the humor, the tenderness are elements that distinguish this little narrative. The wonderful illustrations by Emilio Urberuaga highlight with their intense color palette the magical world of the text.

Like the other books in the series "Little Readers-Great Writers" ("The Cloud and the Wind Lady" by Toni Morrison, "Advice for Little Girls" by Mark Twain, "The Parrot's Resurrection" by Eduardo Galeano, "Ode to a Star" by Pablo Neruda, "What is Good and What is Bad" by Vladimir Mayakovsky), "The Bear's Reason" is an ideal reading for children who are first coming into contact with truly creative literature, familiarizing the young reader in the most natural way with the language of a great writer.
