The Book of Psalms is among the most well-known and beloved texts of biblical literature. All other books of Scripture are read in the Church in fragments. However, the Book of Psalms is read in its entirety and repeatedly. The Psalms, as poetic texts, are distinguished by their unique expressiveness, depth, vividness, and insightfulness. They are a spontaneous language of communication with God, which often praises and at other times supplicates, confesses, reflects, or urges self-criticism. This is why the Psalter has been loved worldwide and throughout all ages, as it addresses all people.
