The ancient Greeks had not known the true God and as mythology tells us, they believed in the 12 gods of Olympus. With their rich imagination, they shaped these gods in human forms, with strengths and weaknesses. They wanted them to live in splendid palaces on Mount Olympus. Occasionally, they would descend to earth to help the good people or to punish the bad ones.
