Ripjaws V series DDR4 DRAM memory is designed for sleek aesthetics and performance, making it an ideal choice for building a new PC system or for upgrading your system memory.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM (Random Access Memory) technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and larger capacities.

Specifically, DDR4 offers operating speeds ranging from 2133 MT/s up to 4800 MT/s and CAS Latency (CL) from CL 9 up to CL 22. Its capacity has been increased up to 32 GB per memory module.

When choosing speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), higher is generally better, but it's important to ensure that our motherboard supports the selected speed and capacity. For CAS Latency (CL), lower is better.

The Ripjaws V operates at a speed of 2666 MT/s with a CL15 and 8GB of memory per module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. For example, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, and the latest Intel processors, as well as with AMD Ryzen and Threadripper processors.

However, to ensure compatibility with your motherboard, you must make sure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

(XMP & EXPO) is a technology that allows us to boost the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/ EXPO) works by storing pre-defined memory settings in the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) of the memory module. These settings can be automatically applied by the system's BIOS when XMP is enabled.

The Ripjaws V memory supports (XMP 2.0/ EXPO) technology and offers:

  • Speed (XMP/EXPO): 2666 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP/EXPO): 15-15-15-35
  • Voltage (XMP/EXPO): 1.35V


Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction, in combination with the memory's height of 42mm - an ideal size for use with big CPU coolers - helps keep the memory and the entire computer at a low temperature, even under heavy loads.

    I have these RAMs for 8 months, they work great for playing Fortnite and Minecraft, and for editing videos with heavy programs like After Effects, Premiere Pro. I can do some work, but it definitely needs more than 8 for proper work. But overall, they are great

    September 2017 (Purchase) - January 2019: I bought 2 sets, which means 4x4GB=16GB and everything is fine, except for the fact that other users have reported that it doesn't reach the maximum frequency. I read somewhere recently that it might have to do with which slots we have placed each one. So, the first set goes into slots 1 and 3, while the second one goes into slots 2 and 4. Of course, for those who have one set, they should probably go into slots 1 and 3 and then go to the BIOS to check the speeds!
