Description

Alain Delon, besides being a characteristic example of a handsome man, is an actor who undoubtedly captivated the cinephile audience, although for various reasons his controversial personality never ceased to provoke antipathy. His stormy love affair with Romy Schneider left the impression of a satire in the consciousness of a large mass, while the case of the murder of his "bodyguard", Stefan Markovits, contributed to his characterization as a "dark type". Also, despite starring in films by left-wing directors such as Lucino Visconti and Joseph Losey, left-wing critics always treated him with suspicion, perhaps even hostile many times, because of his conservative ideas and his statements that were characterized as reactionary. And even feminists hated him for his attitude towards women, considering him incurably "macho" even though he never hid his bisexuality. After the success of "Le Samourai", he adopted the image of the cold-blooded killer and, avoiding interviews, let it be implied that this role was his true character. At the same time, he did not approve any biography of his and tried to block any similar publication in France, reinforcing suspicions that he has a lot to hide, especially when at the peak of his career, his involvement in the murder of Stefan Markovits left many questions unanswered. However, beyond any speculation, the fact is that Alain Delon was for many years the most famous French actor, the male equivalent of Brigitte Bardot, and his name continues to be recognizable worldwide. As for his personal life, it could easily be the material for a screenplay for a more exciting film than all the ones he has made.
