    The fork is very thick at the edges and an adult cannot "grab" food with it .. I understand that it is made this way for more safety but it is essentially useless. We did not use the spoon as it is quite small for 12+ months.

    I do not consider it suitable for 12 months. The fork is too thick and cannot easily pierce anything, and the spoon cannot hold anything.
