In 1916, French painter Edouard Lefebvre leaves his beloved Sophie to fight on the Front. Before he leaves, however, he paints a unique portrait of her, which Sophie keeps as the apple of her eye.
When her small town falls into the hands of the Germans, the portrait will move the German Occupation commander and become the reason the girl risks everything - family, reputation, even her own life - in a final hope to see her beloved one last time.
Almost a century later, the same portrait is donated to Liv by her husband, shortly before his sudden death. Its beauty reminds her of the short time they lived together. However, when the dark history of the painting is revealed, Liv will be in danger of losing the only spark of love she felt since the day she lost her husband...
