The Magkas, a cute Fox Terrier, lives in the house of a wealthy family in Alexandria. A series of pranks makes him leave his home out of fear. He finds himself for a few days in the poor neighborhoods of the city, where he faces the difficulties of life and meets the stray Afra. Their friendship will give birth to unfamiliar emotions and thoughts in the well-behaved Magkas and will teach him life lessons that will lead him to maturity. Drawing elements from her childhood memories, the author presents through Magkas' eyes life in the flourishing Greek neighborhood of Alexandria in the early 20th century, while also making references to the Macedonian Struggle, the revolution of 1821, and the defeat of 1897.
