A journey through space and time that captivates you. Metsovo, 19th century, Ottoman occupation, rich customs and traditions. Gifted literary writing, one of the best books of contemporary prose. I couldn't wait to pick it up again. The ending surprised me: the unfulfilled love was fulfilled. Perhaps it would have been preferable for it not to be fulfilled, more realistic for the customs of the era. But it doesn't matter: the book is a small masterpiece, I wish there were more historical novels of such quality.
