I couldn't wait to pick it up again. The ending surprised me: the unfulfilled love was fulfilled. Perhaps it would have been preferable for it not to be fulfilled, more realistic for the customs of the era. But it doesn't matter: the book is a small masterpiece, I wish there were more historical novels of such quality.
