Description

The G.Skill SODIMM DDR3 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their laptop.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The G.Skill SODIMM DDR3 provides a speed of 1866MT/s, with CL11 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

G.Skill has XMP 2.0 profiles with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 1866MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 11-11-11
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.35V

Easy installation

For installation, you only need a screwdriver and your laptop's user manual. By watching a video for your specific laptop model, you will be able to upgrade your RAM without any problems and additional charges.

Review this product
  • The laptop in which these memories were used is a turbo X with a 2nd generation i7. The previous memory was 8gb with 1333mhz. I can say that the difference was not noticeable at first, however, with the use of relatively demanding programs, the difference became apparent. I recommend them if you want to keep your laptop for another two years.

  • This review is about modules: 1, capacity: 8 GB

I bought it for the Gigabyte Brix GB-BPCE-3350C barebone (mini pc), and it worked, but it had problems starting up, probably due to incompatibility. Specifically, while the power led was on, it did nothing for a while. I had to manually turn it off by pressing the power on button for a long time. Then I would turn it on again, and usually on the 3rd or 4th try, it would start normally. From there on, it was okay. But there were compatibility issues during startup with this particular machine. The truth is that this specific memory is not on the lists recommended by the manufacturer, but usually there is no problem. However, in this case, there was, so I ended up buying the Silicon Power 8GB DDR3 RAM with Speed 1600 Code: SP008GLSTU160N02, which has a lower speed, but it works fine.
