Description

Can an anarchist be a banker?
Can a banker be an anarchist?
Is it possible for these conflicting qualities to be combined?

The great Portuguese author offers a text that shakes established perceptions, provokes thought, divides, and ninety years after its first publication remains enjoyable, provocative, and at the same time relevant.

Fernando Pessoa's "The Anarchist Banker," published in 1922, is as if it were written today. The short story, with its oxymoronic title, remains so relevant, so evergreen and radical, in a period where doctrines and labels have disoriented entire generations. As social institutions show symptoms of destabilization, as the connective bonds are torn apart, groups of people exhibit tendencies of intense questioning and even radicalization against the institutions, which the same generations sometimes defend selectively and other times in their entirety.

From the Foreword by Aris Portosalte

Easy to read, doesn't tire you out, and as for the opinions... Absolute identification.. It's a shame that the years go by and the situations don't change..
