Almost a year of use. Flawless, simply. It definitely cannot be compared to a machine with a separate grinder, but it is quite close. Very compact. Until today, I have brewed over 20 kilograms, making more than 8 coffees a day. I recommend it with closed eyes...
After the fifth machine, this is the first automatic one I bought and it doesn't make good coffee. I also got two with capsules for professional use that make much better coffee using the same coffee I've been using for five years. WASTE OF MONEY
It needs a little adjustment in the grinder and coffee intensity when you find the result comes out satisfactory. It is very easy to use (my three-year-old daughter makes my coffee)
Nice machine, in my case the manual said that it has a button at the back for power, in addition to the front on-off button, but in the end the machine didn't have a button, and everyone wanted to convince me that it's not a big deal! Obviously a complaint to the consumer advocate
Before purchasing this, I used to grind the coffee myself with a classic grinder and used a simple coffee maker. I had the ability to make the coffee stronger. I have set the De Longhi to the finest possible grind size and with the maximum amount of coffee, but still, it does not produce a strong enough coffee. What I gained is time and inconvenience
I have the coffee machine for one year and I use it every day. I am not a coffee specialist, but the coffee is easy to make and the quality is very descent. I buy coffee beans and I don't make cappuccino. It is an easy solution when you have to drink coffee quickly. The desalination process and the cleaning takes time. An additional small cast is the desalination liquid. If you are buying coffee from cafés, then you could definitely save money.
In plain terms:
1. good coffee (depends on the blend of course),
2. good foam,
3. difficult cleaning/descaling, and
4. very difficult operation when you want to adjust it.
IN IMPORTANT NOTES:
I have bought 2 identical machines (home-office) with a difference of 1-2 months between them and they both broke down at the same time!!
I tried to send them to Delonghi for service but because they were purchased from Skroutz store, Delonghi Greece does not provide service!! (Obviously within warranty for both machines).
In my attempt to contact Delonghi headquarters in Italy (https://www.delonghigroup.com), the website redirects me to the Greek one, so no communication!
LUCKILY after contacting Skroutz, I was fully compensated and now I am looking for a machine through the platform but staying away from Delonghi - I am leaning towards Philips or Krups, I haven't decided yet.
Conclusion: STAY AWAY from Delonghi, make purchases only through SKROUTZ
I bought the machine on 27-06-2022. At the end of July (2023), it stopped working and I took it for service in Chania. The information I had was that they were waiting for a spare part and it was delayed from Athens. At the end of August, they sent the same coffee machine to Athens for central service. In communication with them, they informed me that they are waiting for a spare part (probably a circuit board) and it is delayed, and that I will have the machine repaired by October. Unacceptable, a 3-month delay!!! Never again Delonghi!!!
It does everything perfectly.
It is very convenient.
However, with everyday use, it broke down once in 3 years, the grinder and once the pump system. (Total repair cost ~200€)
It should be noted that it was well-maintained with descaling and the use of a water filter.
So, it is definitely not value for money
Very good. It arrived with a broken water container, but the company sent me a new one immediately with a phone call. I have had it for a week and I am still playing with the settings.
I have had it for a week and my nerves have been played... So far, I have drunk about 30 coffees. It was expensive for me, but it's worth it!!!! I will come back in a few months!!
Quality construction and flawless operation. Makes excellent espresso and frothed milk for cappuccino. It has a program for cleaning with salt. We have had it for a year and it has not presented any problems or quirks. We would not change it.
UPDATE 19/5
Regarding the frother, it now lasts for 1 minute and then it stops working. After 6 attempts, it cannot descale or at least the light does not turn off. What a shame.
As a recent owner, I have tried various machines and I think this one is worth it. Firstly, I will mention ground coffee and then I will come back to whole beans. The machine is excellent for ground coffee, with the right temperature and quantity, and it creates a nice froth.
tip 1: If you want a stronger flavor in the double shot, you can use 2 scoops instead of 1 as stated in the instructions, and it will turn out great.
tip 2: DO NOT put coffee before the machine is activated. First, open the machine, let it go through the cleaning cycle for a few seconds, and then add the coffee. Otherwise, you will cause damage.
Cleaning is very easy as it cleans the pipes by itself and disposes of the coffee grounds in the drawer, so you just have to empty it.
I had been searching for it for a long time, and when I found it on sale at a well-known store with four kilograms of coffee and an extra 22% discount, I made up my mind. First of all, I will say that the coffee is not café quality, but it is good. In terms of cleaning, it has been easy so far, and if you read the instructions, I don't think you will have a problem. With the offer I found, with the coffee as a gift for a year, the investment will be paid off very quickly. Anyone who decides to buy it and expects the coffee to be café quality should not waste their money.
I tried for a long time to make it work with the machine but we couldn't manage it. The reasons?
1. The nozzle burns the milk. I tried everything from different types of milk to adjusting the settings.
2. The foam is poorer compared to the Dedica (same company).
3. Cleaning the machine is always problematic, it takes me much more time than expected and I don't know what's wrong.
4. 17/01/2024 My machine is producing a lot of water in the tray where the coffee collects with every operation. The descaling is done on time. It's now useless and ready to be thrown away.
I have had the first coffee maker for 5 years now, and later I bought another one for home. It has made over 5000 coffees and still works with maintenance using vinegar for descaling. Simply the best
Today, after 3 years of use, I opened the machine with a screwdriver and tools and adjusted the grinder. This was the only way to make good coffee. Even at the finest setting, the grinder made the coffee quite coarse and weak. I think it's a matter of luck, as not all machines have the same grinder or the same adjustment. I understand from the company's perspective why they make the coffee coarse, so that the machines don't get blocked and don't require mass servicing. However, the result is poor, and I think the three stars I gave for a machine that requires the owner to take risks and potentially break it is very generous. So if the coffee is weak, don't waste your time, nothing will change. Personally, I have tried everything - expensive coffees, cheap coffees, countless adjustments. I used various YouTube videos mainly for maintenance issues to understand how to change the grinder setting. I hope to have the time to make a video myself on how I did it, but for now, because this machine has exhausted me, I will have a decent coffee instead of the watery ones I have been drinking until now. As for those who want to buy this coffee maker, it's a bit of a gamble. Good luck.
I have been the owner of this machine for over 4 years and I am more than satisfied. With the proper settings (amount of water in the coffee and grinding), as well as the coffee beans we like, you can enjoy perfect coffee at home. With proper maintenance, cleaning the nozzle after each use, cleaning the mechanism internally every month as indicated in the instructions, and descaling when the indicator light comes on, it works flawlessly. I have not encountered any problems so far, I make a double cappuccino every day before leaving for work and it functions like the first day. I highly recommend it without reservation!
You want to mess up someone's coffee to find the settings... but then the coffee is excellent with a good crema. In the photo with 100% Arabica Honduras coffee island at 96°C, the coffee indicator is at "and a quarter" and the grind at number 2. The extraction is set at 30ml for espresso and 60ml for double. Overall, I played with many settings and many types of coffee, 100% and 80-20, 60-40, etc... and many brands. Many did not sit well, but I really liked this specific one from coffee island. The hausbrandt gourmet is also very good. As well as the cheap Lavazza oro. Overall, it takes some time to learn, but I am generally very satisfied. Descaling twice in 3 months (I bought a Delonghi package for 5 uses for 9€) and the indicator came out relatively quickly because I make many coffees... a lot of them... It's worth its money. The filter is expensive, of course, and I didn't put it back because I have a filter on the faucet.
I bought this coffee machine as a replacement for the Krups XP2240. I have had it for about a year and I make an average of 4 cups of coffee per day (espresso and cappuccino). First of all, I must say that it requires several hours and a quantity of coffee in order to find the settings that will satisfy the user. After so many months, I cannot confidently say that I have found the ideal settings, nor that the coffee is ideal. I have tried various coffee varieties, with more or less the same result. Despite using a fine grind and a generous amount of coffee, the coffee does not have the body that I would like, nor does it have the foam. Note that for each adjustment on the grinder, two to three cups of coffee are required to see the result, and you always have to turn the dial one by one to prevent the grinder from "blocking".
The other major issue I have is with the steam nozzle and milk frothing. It is quite difficult, and over time I have noticed that it tends to boil the milk rather than froth it. With the Krups, the process was simpler and almost always successful. Note that I use a milk frother and barista technique, and still no luck.
I always use bottled water, yet it often requires descaling, which is a simple process, and I have never had a problem with it as described by other users.
In conclusion, I would say that it is simply satisfactory, easier and more practical than the Krups I had, but not as much value for money. The negatives include the high water consumption (for heating and rinsing) and the noise of the grinder.
Update: about 1.5 years after purchasing it.
As time goes by, I appreciate its value even more. The quality of the coffee it produces obviously depends directly on the quality of the beans. However, even having tried various blends, I can say that even with cheap coffee, the result is much better than the average of most take-away coffee chains, and for Cyprus, where I currently reside, the result is simply leagues better than any take-away coffee I have tried. The modification in the technique of frothing milk for cappuccino and a better milk frother made a significant difference. There, I can truly say that the machine shines. The milk froth for cappuccino becomes simply amazing with the right temperature, fluffy and creamy as it should be, and depending on the technique, a more experienced person can achieve different types of milk froth. So far, I am quite satisfied with the coffee machine. In the 1.5 years or so that I have had it, I have had to descale it a total of 7-8 times. The water wastage remains a drawback. We'll see how it performs in the long run
We have and we say after 10 months of use:
Important points:
- Only good coffee quality, it produces whatever you put in.
- Because we have hard water in Thessaloniki, I use bottled water with low salts. Water hardness setting at one, without salt filter.
- Amount of coffee to the maximum, recommended by a barista.
- Grind as fine as possible but not to clog, at least on the third line.
- Temperature as hot as possible but without burning smell.
- I have set it to produce 60ml instead of 40, it doesn't burn it with a temperature of 4.
Cleaning is a breeze (always be careful to remove the red condensation container, otherwise it gives an error).
The milk frother, I wonder why some people had difficulties, the first time I did it and it turned out rich, but it uses a lot of water.
Automatic/semi-automatic machines don't produce real crema but fake crema (look it up).
Overall, it has a good balance of quality/cost and you have good coffee at home without needing barista knowledge. Okay, it doesn't make coffee like a good espresso bar, but definitely better than many chains.
I have had it for 8 months. No matter how much I have tried to adjust it, the coffee it produces is always watery. The grinder is set to position 1, the coffee quantity is at max, and still the coffee that comes out is watery. I contacted the company, which didn't even bother to listen to my problem because, they say, I didn't buy the machine from one of their own stores. Terrible customer service. The truth is, I was influenced by the many positive reviews it has and I believed it would be a quality machine. I am not satisfied at all, it is not worth its money.
I bought the machine on 8/3/21 and made sure to print its manual in Greek from the DELONGHI website. Additionally, based on the reviews I read, I decided on the settings for the grinder and the coffee intensity. I set up the machine relatively easily and started the process by making 10-15 coffees to season it. I chose Lavazza ORO coffee, a 250g package, as it is a value-for-money coffee, especially when you try the first few coffees as a test. By the way, it's not bad for its price for espresso. Then, I continued with Hausbrandt gourmet, which is also one of my favorites along with Mrs. Rose. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. I have been drinking espresso for years from specific coffee shops with the aforementioned varieties, and I can say that the coffees I make at home with this machine are almost of the same quality.
It perfectly meets my needs. I highly recommend it. Very nice coffee with good foam. I use the Neapolitan coffee Moreno super espresso and I really like the combination. It takes a little bit of effort to learn how to use it. There are videos on YouTube that are very helpful.
Owner for 3 weeks now.
Reading the comments here and following the instructions, I managed to achieve subjectively perfect coffee in 1 week.
I turned the grinder (one click at a time) to the 3rd notch before the finest setting, I made a single espresso shot at 30 ml, set the temperature to the 2nd light (from the left), drank 4-5 medium coffees, and then it started performing at its best.
Something I didn't read in the comments. Having a little barista experience - 1 season, frothing milk with the steam wand felt like a game to me.
Really, compared to home coffee machines priced at 80-200€, it's much easier. So if you're having difficulty, it's not the coffee machine's fault, it's a matter of technique. Find instructions or a guide and you'll succeed.
Finally, the most important thing is the variety of coffee. Although it may take "wasting" 250-300 grams of coffee until you "set up" the coffee machine with the right settings. However, I recommend buying good coffee, don't skimp, in order to understand when you will achieve the desired result and say goodbye forever to deliveries.
I am very demanding when it comes to coffee and initially I had a fear before buying any espressiera that it might disappoint me and I would waste my money. I had also read some negative reviews from the comments, so I had some hesitation. The machine simply rocks, I started right away and brewed coffee that I had purchased from Coffee Lab, the Kenya blend! Perfect!!
From the first coffees I made, I am completely satisfied!
I have only had it for one day, of course, and out of excitement, I immediately came to write!
With the milk frother, I admit that I haven't succeeded yet, but I will start experimenting with it! I hope it will work just as well there too!
I didn't change anything significant in the settings, I ground the beans at around 1.5 to 2, pressed the single shot, and with intensity a little higher than the middle, a few notches before max, but also on a smaller scale exactly in the middle. Now if I discover something else along the way, I will inform you.. But for now, I highly recommend it as a Best buy!!
I come back one day later and I have to say that I managed to froth the milk!! with Delta milk in the paper packaging!!
They have already said it before! All I have to say is that I have had it at work for two years now and it makes an average of 30 coffees per day......... It hasn't had the slightest issue. We have tried it with many coffee varieties. Surely the quality of the coffee we use matters, but the machine is a beast. I bought it for 330 euros. I don't believe there is a more worthy machine for its price. I'm not even discussing someone who wants to get it for home use...... They will marry it because simply put, it won't break.
Very good and high-quality device! I believe it is one of the best in this price category. In the 2 ships that I saw this model, they work perfectly and flawlessly! Each one makes at least 5 coffees in the morning and the same amount in the afternoon, and there is no problem at all! It needs to be cleaned about once a month (acid wash, to remove salts from the pipes inside), and that's it. It grinds the coffee beans by itself, with the option of quantity... you can also add pre-ground coffee if you want. It makes a great froth and milk for anyone who likes cappuccino. So, I am very excited about this particular one, and of course, I will buy this for my home, and not any other.
