Description

Nature abhors homogeneity while adoring eccentric diversity. In a healthy society, all types of people are required, and in a fulfilling life, the entire palette of emotions is needed.
However, based on the new criteria of psychiatric diagnosis, soon there will be no person who is not considered mentally ill! Most likely, under the "umbrella" of DSM-5, all eccentric, disobedient, and politically unclassified individuals will be piled up.
In 1987, Allen Frances - a distinguished psychiatrist with great influence in the psychiatric community - was appointed head of the Task Force for the writing of DSM-4, the "Bible" of psychiatrists that delineates the critical distinction between normal and mental illness.
In 2010, he refused to get involved in DSM-5. After twenty years of contribution to the revised editions of DSM, he knew the dangers hidden in each edition. The new, under construction mental disorders will create millions of new "patients," while pharmaceutical companies will amass billions.
In America, as well as in Greece, psychiatric diagnosis is mainly based on DSM-5. As soon as it was released in 2013, thousands of signatures were gathered against it, while the media worldwide gave the issue great dimensions.
Allen Frances reveals "the snake's egg." His anxiety for the rescue of the normal and human-centered approach model in psychiatry led him to write this book of denunciation.
