For What Remains is a series of three skirmish-level war games set in a near-future post-apocalyptic world:

• Streets of Ruin
• Blood on the Rails
• Out of the Basement

Streets of Ruin features the factions Combine and Freemen Coalition, set in the Streets of Ruin campaign. The Freemen Coalition is a loose union of human rebels specializing in guerrilla warfare, while the Combine is the military wing of the government that rules much of the remaining world. The game is designed for 2 players in competitive matchups or for solitaire play, and each set can be played standalone or in combination with other sets to form a larger narrative.

Players control characters from one of the game's six factions. There are two ways to play For What Remains: skirmishes and campaigns. Skirmishes are standalone games played for a single victory, with no long-term consequences. Campaigns are a series of skirmishes linked together to form a larger narrative. For What Remains is a scenario-driven game.
