Description

The Exo 491 from Scorpion is a full-face helmet that protects the entire head and jaw. For this reason, this type of helmet is considered the safest and most durable for both travel and city rides. It is made of thermoplastic, a hard material that is heavier compared to other materials. It secures with a double D-ring buckle, also known as a ring. It is the safest and most reliable buckle, but it requires both hands to fasten. The helmet features the new European "ECE 22.06" safety certification, which ensures that the helmet is tested at 18 impact control points instead of the previous 6. The package also includes an anti-fog film, an additional accessory for the helmet's visor that prevents it from fogging up. It is placed on the inside of the helmet and is useful during the winter months.

This review is about a variation of the product

Former owner of a jet-type helmet.
As a first full-face helmet, I have good things to say.
    1) Its visors do not create any distortion and have good visibility.
    2) The construction materials seem good.
    3) Lightweight and distributes the weight perfectly when worn.
    4) In terms of noise, it is satisfactory. The one that creates noise if you are more bent over is the rear air vent, it feels like a C-130 is passing over you.

This review is about a variation of the product

Purchase of this helmet 4 days ago.
Moving with Yamaha Crypton S 115i, within urban traffic, at city speeds.
First impressions positive, or better to say excellent!!
    a. Quality of materials and construction at a very good level.
    b. Fit on the head, perfect, a little tight because it is new.
    c. Quality of inner lining and cheek pads, as they should be.
    d. Visor with very good visibility range, without distortions, with pinlock slot. It slightly fogs up in a standstill (due to the season) but defogs quickly in the first 10-15 meters thanks to the lower front air vent (does a great job)!!!
    e. Ventilation, it has so many options, you will find the right one.
    f. Weight, in this category and price range, all relevant helmets have roughly the same weight. Here, however, the feeling is that it is lighter than it weighs, due to the proper weight distribution!!
    g. Aerodynamic noise, a major concern when buying any helmet, as you can't test it in this area before buying it!!!
I know that all helmets produce at least some noise, but the issue is how it affects the rider's hearing and nerves!!
The following comment is purely a personal opinion!!!
Compared to the previous helmet, it's like day and night!!!
And in this area, it's awesome!!!
The aerodynamic design is well thought out!!!
With the visor open, the noise is much less than before with the previous Shark D-Skwal gen 1 helmet, where with the visor closed and the upper air vents, it was a party in my ears, resulting in headaches!!
I will return with an update of the comment!!!

    Comment update:
After 1.5 years of daily use, all the positives I mentioned in my initial post still hold true.
Also, the installation of a Pinlock visor is a very good, useful, and necessary choice for the winter season regardless of the helmet!!!
Personally, the purchase was successful and worth every last euro.
