I am 26 years old and I got it for myself because I always liked Tamagotchi and similar toys.

The way the screen works is: it has a line of LED lights that move up and down VERY quickly (imagine a fan motion) and so in the eye creates the illusion that it sees a hologram.

It is very clever, but I imagine that a small child would easily break it. You have to touch it very gently (to make choices or pet the "pet") so as not to break it.

Unlike Tamagotchi where you played mini games and earned points that you could use to buy things, in Bitzee's mini games you don't win anything. Also in Tamagotchi you could unlock many different pets over the course of months and thus keep the interest, while Bitzee has only 9, which you unlock very quickly (within 1-3 days).

So because of the above, I quickly got bored of it, and I imagine that a child aged 7-8 and above would feel the same.

TL;DR: The problem is that the delicate construction makes it more suitable for older children, but the simplistic gameplay makes it more suitable for younger ones, who would easily break it.

It is a game that educates the child to take care of and nurture the little animals found in Bitzee. I believe it is suitable for children aged 4.5 and above, so they can understand how to play with the game. The child can play with it for a long time on their own, and when they get bored, they put the animals to sleep and close it! 40€ may seem like a lot, but if you watch videos of the game, you will understand that it offers many activities. It is definitely a good purchase.
