The new Code of Organization of Courts and Status of Judicial Officers was ratified by Law 4938/2022 and is effective from 6.6.2022. The new Code replaced the previous one that had been ratified by Law 1756/1988 and had undergone numerous amendments in recent years. According to the explanatory report of Law 4938/2022, the purpose of the new Code is the modernization, harmonization of provisions with European and international developments in the field of Justice organization, and the elimination of dysfunctions identified during the long period of application of the current legislative regime.
