1948: Berlin is blockaded during perhaps the most dangerous phase of the Cold War, when only airplanes could ensure the supply of necessary goods to the residents. At the same time, children playing on the banks of the Spree River find a severed human leg. A few days later, human organs, most likely from a second victim, are discovered inside a ship.

Inspector Oppenheimer is puzzled. Very soon, in a half-ruined building, he will come face to face with a horrific scene: a man sits at a table, dead, naked, and apparently his body is composed of different human parts. The division of Berlin into occupation zones has greatly complicated the investigations, which had become almost impossible as the Cold War approached. And the killer seems to know exactly what advantages the tense situation provides…
