A great router, the little brother of the 6400, for its price since it also has an analog telephone output and except for the fact that it is a category 4 LTE modem, which means signal from one band at a time only...
In speedtest in the Athens area with Vodafone I had 12/3 and with Cosmote 58/40.. 3 bars with Cosmote and only one with Vodafone...
I set up ddns noip, voip, remote access and it works fine...
The device is a bit slow during boot but it's okay...
The tether cloud application is very good, you can see clients, SMS, data usage and you can restart...
It also has external antennas for mobile signal probably...
In voip, the sound when you pick up the phone is the American beep and not our beep-beep...
I should mention that there is the option to choose 4G band in the menu, as well as custom APN...
It also has guest wifi... But only 2.4 wifi band which is generally okay for the speeds it provides...
That's it...
I should also mention that it seems to have difficulty reading Nova SIM cards... It shows Unknown Provider 20210... Automatic APN selection is not possible either... Also, manual band selection is not possible... Surprisingly, it still provides internet...
Signal and speeds are similar to Nova and Vodafone that I mentioned above...
It probably needed a new firmware from 2023 because mine had the 2022 version...
Just an update...
By default, the router has the Nat boost service enabled...
If you search on the internet, you will see what it is...
I needed to disable it because I don't get high speeds, and also to open QoS for voip and to enter the speeds I get, because when someone finishes downloading or during internet usage, the voip had interruptions...
That's it... Also, it's very important for voip to have a good mobile signal...
Oh...
And today, almost 2 weeks later, it suddenly froze and didn't provide internet, I restarted it but then it didn't recognize the SIM card and didn't catch any signal...
With another restart, it started working again...
Coincidence? I don't know... Time will tell...
Update.
I thought of writing this as well...
I have written down the speeds it provided on a computer...
On the mobile, with the 2.4 wifi band, it gave me lower speeds.
And I thought of getting a mercusys type Access point that looks similar to tplink in the menu, so that I can have 5GHz band through ethernet and wifi...
With the 5GHz band, and considering that the network ports are 100Mbps, it reaches around 94-95/46 consistently with Cosmote here where I am...
Update...
I made the following observation recently...
It concerns voip...
While I had outgoing calls normally, incoming calls would play for 30 seconds after a restart and then stop... It didn't accept incoming calls...
After contacting tplink, they suggested that I update to the latest firmware, which the router's page already said it had the latest...
But in practice, on tplink's page there was a newer one and I updated to that... The problem was not solved...
I found the problem in the SIM card and its IP function... I am currently using gigamax unlimited, and in its IP function...
Mobile IPs for saving public IP range are usually behind CGNAT... Meaning the IP inside the router doesn't match the IP we see on the internet on websites like whatismyip... By requesting a public IP APN profile from the provider so that the IPs match, the problem with incoming calls was solved...
With a change from internet APN to VPN-internet... There is also a speed limit at 150/50, which is sufficient for this router and there is no IPv6 support, only IPv4, but it doesn't matter...
Therefore, with this specific router, be careful, you need a public IP for proper telephone operation... Usually, a public IP is only given in contracts and I don't think it is available with all providers... So be careful with the packages you make with the provider and the incoming ones if you want proper incoming connections...
That's it... Greetings...
