"Listen to the Lion" is a portrait of an Athenian family. The story of the Leontarides resembles the story of their neighborhood, Fokionos Negri, which in the 1960s and 1970s was known as Via Veneto. Later, everything went wrong, almost everything: the Leontarides separated into hostile factions and had their share of pain, illness, mistakes, and disappointment. Fokionos Negri declined along with the Leontarides. In this novel, the sudden death of Elias brings to the survivors' memory a festive childhood - in the center of the city and up to the Go-kart track in the Athenian Riviera - and all the lost hopes of their youth."
