Description

Rear-Facing Only & 90° Rotation

All safety experts agree that the safest orientation for a car seat is rear-facing. The i-Spin Safe is a seat that faces only rearward.

The seat rotates on its base 90° in any direction and you can turn it with just one hand towards any car door, making the child's entry and exit easy and comfortable.

Installation with Isofix

Simply click the Isofix arms into place in your car and then adjust the 19-position leg until the load leg indicator turns green to show you that it has been correctly installed.

Safety on Every Journey

The Surround Safety protective panels automatically extend when the child is in the seat, for extra safety in case of a collision. There is a 5-point harness with shoulder and buckle covers. The Grow-With-Me insert ensures they are properly positioned when they are small.

The i-Spin Safe has passed a series of safety tests, has been tested according to R129 (i-Size) and Joie has successfully passed the extensive Swedish Plus Test, which is considered the toughest set of crash tests for car seats in the world.

Comfort for All

Apart from the 90° rotating seat with one hand, there are 6 different reclining functions, all of which can be adjusted without repositioning the seat.

The extendable headrest adjusts simultaneously with the belt, in one motion, to ensure that both are at the correct height for the child.

It is not for newborns as it says, it is for 60cm+ and maybe a little bigger because the baby is very seated and although I have it in the last position to make it as reclined as possible, it is not ideal yet. I would not take it as a main seat before 6-7 months. Luckily we still have the car seat. Before 3 months, his head was not at all comfortable.

My previous experience is from the Cybex Aton M-Isize egg we had up to 15 months, and then for another 15 months from the Joie i-Spin 360 i-Size seat (which is almost the twin brother of the i-Spin Safe.

The selection criterion was that it is the safest back-facing seat and if I'm not mistaken the only one that has the option of turning vertically to be able to put the child more easily, (both in adac crash test but also in the significantly stricter plus where factors such as ease of cleaning materials or usability do not matter, but only whether the child survives or not in conditions of more difficult impact than adac) but also the very positive experience we had from the i-Spin 360 i-Size.

As for the ease of installation, the truth is that the process is extremely simple and if you learn it, it takes less than a minute provided that the car in which it will be installed has easy isofix mounts. In our BMW i3 it goes in and out very easily, in Tesla Model Y a little less easily due to hidden mounts, and in RX8 it goes in less easily but comes out very difficultly because you do not have space to press the button to release the isofix.

It is important that the space left for the front passenger is not much as backfacing, So before you get it if you do not have a car with large spaces and you have a tall co-driver or you take it as a second child seat, test that it really fits and you fit in front.

In conclusion, it seems identical to the i-Spin 360 i-Size except that the pads on the straps on either side of the neck, remain anchored at the top of the straps so that they always stay next to the child's neck so there is no chance that they will go down and bother the child's neck, while it is also much more difficult for the strap to turn upside down. This small improvement alone makes it more user-friendly than the i-Spin 360 i-Size. Of course, unlike the i-spin 360 i-Size, the I-spin safe does not turn into front facing.

The application of the summer cover (which is necessary because without it the child will boil as it comes out and only in black color) is not so good towards the feet, so many times it comes out of the seat especially when you try to tighten or loosen the belt to take out the child - mistake.

For those looking for a summer cover, know that the cover for the i-Spin 360 i-Size fits (and it also says on the box).

I will write a super detailed review so that you know what you should get (or what you should have gotten).

According to the law, children up to 15 years old require a special seat, otherwise there will be a suspension of driving license and driver's license. There are two (2) safety standards. The R44, which expires on 1/9/23, and the sale of seats with this directive (old, outdated). The R129 (or i-Size) is the "new" one, introduced in 2013, and it is about the child's safety according to their height. It also requires the child to face rearward for a longer period of time, as neck injuries are more common. Additionally, this seat has been certified by the Swedish safety regulation (Plus Test), which is more difficult for a seat to pass.

This seat is ranked No.1 (with an overall rating of 1.6) for children from 40 to 105 cm in terms of safety or for children aged 0-4 years. There are cheaper options that come close to this rating, but they lose in terms of ease of installation because they are made up of 2 or 3 pieces, or because the buckling process is more difficult. It has automation for the side ears to pop out, which adds greater impact absorption in a side collision. Finally, the crash tests conducted by ADAC are performed on a real car platform, not on a roller coaster.

Also, this seat HAS rotation to put the child in the seat and secure them, but it will NEVER lock forward-facing, as the new regulation requires children to face rearward until the age of 4. If you are concerned about their legs (this concerned us too), the children will find a way to make their legs comfortable, either by crossing them or placing them on the back of the seat. As we mentioned before, the new regulation is safer in terms of the position during a collision.

As for the cons, which are not disadvantages to lower the rating, in order to have the best possible safety, it does not detach from the isofix base and it is slightly heavier than others. Once you install it, it's a piece of cake. Also, it is important to note that it cannot be used as a baby carrier like others, for which you will read in crash tests that the mechanism is not reliable or in order for it to be a baby carrier, it needs to be lightweight, which directly affects its safety. We have a baby carrier or a stroller for this purpose. You need to read the installation instructions or watch the company's videos. It just takes getting used to, don't be scared. The seat fits comfortably in a Corsa C and takes up one passenger seat. The front seat will not be able to recline, but I think it is understandable for everyone.

    I recommend it!
