Stitch was created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba to cause chaos throughout the galaxy. Stitch is characterized by his mischievous behavior, which makes him beloved by Lilo, who adopts him as her "dog".

Through Lilo's belief in the Hawaiian concept of ʻohana, meaning "family", Stitch evolves from an indifferent, destructive creature into a beloved, more self-aware being who enjoys the company of his adoptive family on Earth.
