The Patriot Viper 4 DDR4 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in the field of video and image processing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with our motherboard specifications.

The Patriot Viper 4 provides speed at 3200MT/s, with CL16 and 32GB per memory module.

Compatibility

The DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Specifically, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors, as well as the latest Intel processors, and AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

The XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory, without the need for manual settings. The (XMP/ EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Viper 4 RGB DDR4 RAM has (XMP 2.0) profiles with the following specifications:

    Very good and work perfectly with Ryzen 7 2700 on Asrock B450 Pro4. The xmp profile reaches them directly at 3200mhz without crashes or startup issues. No need for overclocking, after all the reason you want 3200mhz is to have them already fast. I recommend them to you.

    On Ryzen 2600X with Asrock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X, they played at 3200MHz right away, simply by enabling the XMP profile in the bios.
    They have the ability to play with tighter timings at 3200 (15s with a little tweaking) and with 14s if you lower it to 3000-2933MHz. They can go a bit higher in clock speed, but they already seem "strained" above 3200, and I do not recommend it.
    Overall, they perform excellently at 3200, without any issues with training mode on cold boot. I have had them for about a month now and I am very satisfied. They also come with a limited lifetime warranty. Highly recommended.
