Celestron NexStar 130SLT Reflector Robotic Telescope

The 130 SLT, like the other models in the SLT series, comes with a fully automated digital controller. The digital controller allows you to target any of the 4,000+ objects it contains, including more than 600 galaxies, 300 clusters, and dozens of beautiful double stars. With the pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod, the NexStar 130 SLT is set up and ready for use in just a few minutes. The new SkyAlign alignment technology and the included Star Pointer finder with red LED make alignment a breeze.

See the details of the lunar surface, the rings of Saturn, the polar caps of Mars, the cloud bands on Jupiter, or some of the Messier objects, such as the globular cluster in Hercules (M31) or the Orion Nebula (M42). Start exploring some of the fainter Messier objects using the additional light-gathering capability of the 130 SLT's primary mirror.

Thanks to the Newtonian design, the mirror provides a fully color-corrected image, making it ideal for astronomical use.

Designed as affordable automated GoTo telescopes for entry to mid-level users, the NexStar SLT (Star Locating Telescopes), refractors and reflectors, are available in the most popular sizes and equipped with interesting design features. With a pre-assembled, adjustable stainless steel tripod and quick-release fork arms and tubes, the NexStar SLT telescopes can be set up in just a few minutes – without any tools! You can see details on the surface of the Moon, Venus and its phases, Mars as an orange disk, Jupiter and its four large moons, Saturn and its rings clearly, and much more! Smart Design

Powered by 8 AA batteries (not included) or an optional 12V power adapter, these NexStar GoTo telescopes love to travel. The built-in battery compartment powers the high-precision servo motors ensuring smooth operation with minimal vibrations, while simultaneously eliminating the cable wrap issues that occur when using external battery packs.

Ergonomically designed controller

With the ergonomically designed NexStar controller, the user is free to remove the controller from its holder to use it remotely, or leave it in place to have their hands free. With the touch of a button, you can choose from the catalog of over 4,000 objects, change the rotation speed, view interesting information about an object, or simply find out if a certain object is visible in the sky.

Alignment with SkyAlign Technology

You simply point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky and the telescope will tell you what those objects are. You don't need to know the names of the stars – in fact, you can even choose planets or the Moon! SkyAlign is the easiest method to align a robotic telescope. It is most suitable for beginners, while providing the convenience and accuracy that more advanced users require.

    Awesome tool, only for astronomical observation, you can't use it for terrestrial because it's upside down, you need an idol corrector to do it. In terms of celestial objects, with a 9mm lens, you can see Saturn with clear rings. I also added a 3x barlow and it's perfect

    I received it on 19/2/22.
    In its positives:
    The quality of its construction and the name of Celestron guarantee a tremendous tool for the amateur astronomer. Easy setup, easy calibration, a large database that makes selecting celestial bodies easy and fast. Store the tube with the built-in astroseeker scope, otherwise, you will need to aim at a ground target every time before turning it to the sky. Reflecting telescopes provide an inverted image, so ground observation is initially somewhat difficult. The 25mm and 9mm eyepieces that come with it are sufficient for a start. Personally, I have ordered a Barlow lens for now, so it's like having 4 eyepieces, which is enough for a start. Celestron offers a variety of computer programs and tips for every type of telescope. The large 130mm aperture collects a sufficient amount of light.
    In its negatives:
    The tripod support is a bit light for the weight of the tube, it becomes sensitive to vibrations, and the presence of air makes the problem more pronounced. Its altazimuth mount is not so suitable for astrophotography, but more for observation. Its focal length of 650mm is decent, but as a second thought, I might prefer to go for 1200mm.
    Overall:
    The telescope is value for money for the amateur, with each use it becomes more familiar and offers you much more than it initially seems. I think ultimately that buying a Barlow lens upgrades it significantly. A major flaw of Celestron is that it does not mention in the manual the precision goto function, which offers much better targeting of celestial bodies. Also, get a 12v, 2A external battery. The 8 AA batteries it requires will start to deplete on the 3rd or 4th use. Finally, there is a possibility that recalibration may be needed, especially if you change targets frequently in the sky, which is normal.
    I will definitely come back with updates after some time.
    Edit 24/11/22:
    The telescope is worth every euro I spent to acquire it. It has given me incredible nights of astronomy so far. The problem with the tripod remains, and the only modification I made was to hang weights on it to make it somewhat more stable. Seeing its price at this time only brings me sadness, as many new people may possibly be deprived of the opportunity to fulfill one of their big dreams

    I have it for a few days. Tested in an area without light pollution far from the city. With the 9mm eyepiece, you can see the rings of Saturn, Jupiter with its moons. The moon is visible with intense brightness and it is a bit tiring for the eyes (a filter is needed). The auto align is convenient and relatively easy to set up. You can easily see Messier 3, 5, 13, etc. Andromeda without the moon in the sky with the 25mm. It has a USB port for updates and tracking control via computer. Very good and prompt service from the dealership.
