This study is a purely historical examination of all operations in Grammos during August 1949. I have attempted in the following pages, based on the collected official data, to provide an accurate picture of the immense National effort to achieve Victory. I believe I have succeeded in my endeavor.

The reader, studying these pages, should transport themselves to the field of fierce battles and consider the superhuman sacrifices of toil and blood, the many hundreds of dead, and the thousands of wounded, in order to ultimately strengthen their faith in the value of eternal ideals, in the value of sacrifice for the Idea - Homeland.
