Can a graph, a video, or a photograph mislead us without lying? By what mechanisms are leaks from the police, the government, and businesses promoted? How are the crimes of companies and entire states "laundered" with techniques like whitewashing, green-washing, and pinkwashing? Can the media guide the reader by changing the syntax of a sentence or distort a poll simply by altering the order of the questions?
Journalist Aris Chatzistefanou presents a practical guide that helps us identify techniques of misinformation and propaganda in mass media, social media, and the everyday rhetoric of politicians, advertisers, and communication consultants. Through personal experiences spanning nearly three decades in international and Greek media, he explains with specific examples how to read between the lines of newspapers and electronic media.
The book includes in each chapter a QR-code that leads to videos, photos, podcasts, and active links for all sources and bibliography.

A book that must be read by the majority of the population. I will go one step further, it could easily be read by a young person aged 13-15. Nowadays our societies are different and young people should have as much knowledge and tools as possible to be able to face the challenging issues raised by this book. Hatzistefanou is excellent as always.
Very good reading, it really helps you distinguish misinformation and it is divided into small chapters.
I will buy more books from this author.
One of the worst books I have ever read. The author is politicized and he himself creates misinformation
Very interesting book. It explains the ways in which the media (and other information networks) manipulate information and statistics in order to steer public opinion towards a certain goal.
The book usually presents an extreme example from abroad and then shows how it is applied in Greece.
It also includes at the end of each chapter the method of detecting the application of this phenomenon.
Easy to read.
Just what you need for vacation days, easy to read and will change the perspective of some who consume information without criticism.
Excellent book. It opens your eyes to pay attention to what you see, what you hear, and what you read
Okay, the book is great. Consider for the possible next edition to put a cover that doesn't get dirty. Otherwise, the content is excellent, informative, and should be read by everyone!
