In the series titled "Panagias of the Greeks" a brief but responsible presentation of the history of the most famous and beloved images of the Virgin Mary is included. The love and honor attributed to them become evident when they are exhibited for worship in the capital or other Greek cities. Then it is realized how much reverence there is even among those considered secular people, who "stand in line" for hours in order to embrace the sacred image, to place a flower before the Theotokos, to light their candle, and above all to confide in her their problems, supplications, or expressions of gratitude and appreciation for some miraculous intervention in their lives. Because they know that the "Lady of the World" is the "hope and protection of the faithful," she does not overlook their requests and intercedes for "the good and welfare of their souls," without letting anyone depart from her "disappointed."
