A coincidence unites the lives of two different women. The first lives in the present, while the other centuries ago.

Myrsini, a philologist, dreams of an academic career. She leaves Athens and goes to live in Kardamyli. There, she passionately falls in love with a charming architect who cheats on her with her niece. Devastated, in her attempt to forget, she meets a university History professor who helps her with her doctorate. However, she is kidnapped along with one of her students and her life is in danger. The professor manages to save her, and love now binds these two people. On one of their trips, they discover the diary of Stella Alipranti at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, who lived there in 1770. It recounts how she was pursued by Turks and Venetians until she reached Russia, seeking asylum from Catherine the Great, her thrilling life in the palaces of the famous tsarina, the sword fights, the grand palace balls, and her passionate love for a Greek shipowner, with whom she participated in the creation of Odessa and its brilliant development.
The captain's ships sailed the Mediterranean against pirates and corsairs, while in their salons they discussed secrets about the Filiki Eteria.

Her life becomes a source of inspiration for Myrsini's dissertation, who ultimately emerges victorious in life and love.
