Description

As paradoxical as it may seem, the Neoplatonic philosopher Damascius (458 - ; AD) attempts and formulates a magnificent conception of the world of experience, based on his reasoning - which is impressive for the standards of his time - and on the scientific, philosophical, and theological approaches to the existing. He has understood that theological Metaphysics can be nothing other than the theory of the "truly existing" and the search for the stable and at the same time dynamic ontological substratum of the world of experience. For this reason, it cannot be a theoretical inquiry alien to the research of the natural sciences, whose ultimate goal is the total discovery and recording of the first causes of physical reality, nor can it be separated from strict philosophical dialectical speculation, which seeks the logical transcendence of empirical limits in order to offer a persuasive justification and interpretation of the "how" of what exists and happens.

It is precisely this composition that we will attempt to illustrate and, to the best of our ability, interpret in this book, always bearing in mind that philosophical inquiry is always in progress and does not have a definitive point in the discovery and formulation of truth.
