Even with a small amount, it effectively cleanses the skin and leaves a feeling of cleanliness as it removes excess oiliness. I wouldn't say that it dries out the skin because I use it in conjunction with the treatment I am taking for acne, which already dries out the skin a lot, and it hasn't dried out my face.
