Description
The formation of Western metaphysics is based, in an intensive way, on the two pillars of ancient Greek thought, Plato and Aristotle. The teacher and the student, the mythical dialectic and the rational axis of narration. Each one with their own formation and their autonomous path. The teacher through the Academy and the student for the Lyceum shape those tendencies that at some point appear to be in irreconcilable confrontation. However, the history of philosophy fulfills its duty. Through careful investigations, it discovers their commonplaces, which are nothing but their anxiety for truth. With the later phase of the Neoplatonic School (Plutarch, Syrianus, Proclus, Damascius, 4th-6th century), the vision for their ultimate reconciliation is recorded, and not within the framework of a historical compromise. Hellenism cannot remain divided. It seeks its dialectical compositions and discovers them. From this point on, it undertakes the laborious task of specializing them, samples of which it attempts to present in the present work.
