Description

My life is a small fishing boat. A small, worn-out fishing boat that has emerald moons on its mast and a hatless, rogue sun as its helmsman. A fishing boat without a course.

"Where are we going, captain?" the helmsman asks me and winks.

"Wherever the waves take us!" I say solemnly.

And the emerald moons on the mast burst like pomegranates on the deck. And the hatless rogue sun abandons the helm and dances. And the night fills with thousands of rogue suns. And my soul fills with colorful nights. It fills with emerald moons and sea birds. Where can all these fit inside me? Where can they be crammed, damn them? Anyway, what I have definitely realized is that the suit of a normal person doesn't suit me. I become a clown every time I try to wear it.

In "The Torn Straw Hat," Alkyoni Papadaki's narrative revolves around a deeply dysfunctional family, capturing with lyricism relationships and situations that seem extreme yet exist all around us, illuminating the purest and the darkest aspects of human existence.
