The projection technology is the way in which the light from the projector's lamp is converted into an image to be projected onto a surface through the lens. This particular projector uses SXRD technology and its lamp is laser type, which has a longer lifespan than LED lamps, as well as very high brightness and excellent color and black performance.
This specific technology takes its name from the initials of the words Silicon X-tal Reflective Display, it is exclusive to Sony and it is an evolution of LCoS technology, thus a combination of DLP & LCD technologies. The image is created when the light from the lamp passes through a liquid crystal panel placed very close to the mirror that will reflect it towards the lens. This construction results in perfect black performance and very good color performance, thus an overall very "vibrant" image.
The brightness is a very important characteristic that is taken into account, along with the projection distance and maximum diagonal you want to achieve, for selecting a projector. This specific one has a brightness of 2000 ANSI Lumens, which indicates how much light the projector can deliver on a specific surface size. The general rule suggests that the "brightest" projectors should be preferred in spaces with sufficient light or multiple light sources, while the "darker" ones should be preferred in dark spaces.
It is equipped with Ethernet, so you can connect wired to your local network and stream a program online or download software updates.
