Environmental Impacts & Principles of Life Cycle Analysis
With the advent of the era of mass consumption, the issue of recycling and management of materials and their environmental impacts due to pollution, with obvious common examples being plastics and electronics, has emerged. Today, the awareness of the extent and seriousness of the environmental impacts of technological materials on the economy (in terms of intensive use of material resources) and on energy (in terms of the impact on the climate of our planet) rapidly leads us to a new framework of scientific study and management of the issue. This is the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in connection with the Circular Economy.

This textbook is mainly aimed at engineers, chemists, physicists, materials scientists, and environmentalists who are interested in training and deepening their knowledge in the interdisciplinary field of Materials-Environment interaction. It may also be useful for health scientists interested in issues of material and nanomaterial toxicity, and for economists interested in Life Cycle Assessment of Materials.
