Saint Nektarios experienced honors and titles, but also an incredible persecution, during which he had to fight against the many traps set for him by the Evil One. The people of that time mocked him, ridiculed him, and accused him. However, he endured the bitter slanders, the harsh threats, the unprecedented humiliations, and the unjust oppressions.

With patience and drawing strength from God, he overcame all obstacles and difficulties. With faith, continuous prayer, humility, and silence, he always placed his hope for the restoration of truth solely in the Lord.

He showed love and kindness to everyone. He wanted to benefit humanity in every way, whoever they may be. Even when others made mistakes, he not only forgave them but also took on the burden of their mistakes, attributing their wrongdoing to his own fault.
