We should not be surprised by the fact that in the Pontic Dialect foreign words have infiltrated, such as Turkish, Sanskrit, Russian, Italian, Latin, Armenian, Persian, Arabic, Kurdish, Georgian, Venetian, Slavic, English, Bulgarian, Albanian, etc.

It was reasonable for this to happen, as Pontus, due to its geographical position and its wealth-producing resources, has been a crossroads of peoples and a space of economic activities.

Nevertheless, the Pontic Dialect has maintained its connection with the ancient Greek language, of which it is undoubtedly a legitimate offspring, as clearly demonstrated by the juxtaposition of relevant words.
