I replaced an Enermax Liqmax II 240 liquid cooler, which was making strange noises after 1.5 years of use. The processor is an 8600K running at 4.6Ghz all core, idle at 45-47 degrees. With the NH-U12S, it dropped to 35-38 degrees. During a stress test with Cinebench R20, I saw a maximum of 73 degrees on two consecutive runs.
What impressed me the most was how easy it was to install. It's not surprising that some companies copy Noctua. It won't give you any trouble at all.
Also, the noise level is impeccable. Even at 1500rpm, the sound of the NF-F12 fan is not bothersome, and you can barely notice it at around 90%, at around 1400rpm. It's completely silent at 1200rpm with the low-noise adapter.
It entered the ryzen 5 3600. In idle it lowered it by almost 10 degrees. In load I can say even more. Small cooler but does a great job. Just be careful not to find the side of the case in terms of volume. You will not have a problem with Ram. Noctua has a 6-year warranty. Great packaging with lots of detail, detailed and easy instructions.
Well, Ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler had idle temperatures of 50°C and reached 80-90°C under heavy load. We're talking about tragic temperatures here. But with this cooler, now it idles at 35°C and in games like GTA V with max graphics, it doesn't exceed 65 degrees. It performs very well and is of high quality, providing everything you need to install it in any socket, even with the Noctua thermal paste. 10/10 from me.
I had a Corsair H110 and temperatures on the i7 7700K with OC reached 93 degrees during the Prime Stress Test.
Now, as unbelievable as it may be, with this cooler I have 78 degrees. And on top of that, it is SILENT!
Never going back to air cooling
Extremely efficient. Cools without making any noise. I have also installed a second fan for push/pull operation on the same socket via a y cable and still no noise. I didn't have any difficulty with the installation (first time doing something like this). Pay attention to the specs of your cooler and case. In a mid tower (even in the spacious Nanoxia Deep Silence 3), it fits perfectly. It even has a third fan in line, at the back of the case, aligned with the cooler fans. The build quality is evident as soon as you hold the cooler in your hands. The thermal paste I used is Arctic MX-4 and in the summer, in combination with this cooler, it keeps my overclocked i7-8700k at temperatures of 31-35 degrees Celsius during browsing, office work, and media player applications. Highly recommended, especially when combined with a second NF-F12 PWM fan.
Very good cooler, it requires attention to the case you will place it in (the depth of the case), it barely fit in mine (ThermaLtake N24).
When you buy a good and expensive product, you want your money to be worth it!
And that's exactly what happens with Noctua's cooler!
Just from the packaging, you can tell it's something premium!
On the positive side:
+ Impeccable construction
+ Easy installation (can be done by people without relevant experience)
+ Silent
+ Low noise adaptor cable
+ Support for a second fan, there is a package with accessories (fan clips & anti-vibration pads)
+ 100% RAM compatibility
+ 6-year warranty
+ Just the fact that it has a pipe with NT-H1 and not some fake little bag with a drop of thermal paste, you can draw a conclusion!
On the negative side:
- You can mention the price, but for what you get, I don't think there is anything negative for me!
I installed it on an i7 4790 processor in a PC that does video editing and temperatures now do not exceed 70-75°C with 100% load, and measurements during summer months with room temperatures at 28°C do not exceed 60-62%. It is a bit bulky, but definitely recommend it for its top quality.
You know that you're buying quality with Noctua. It's a beast in size and performance. It cools the i7-6700K very easily, you can't hear anything, it's big and ugly though. But I think it's the best option at this price.
I have had this specific cooler for 2 months now on a 6700K at 4.2Ghz. It does what it promises and more! I have set it to run at 600rpm so it doesn't make any noise.
Idle temperature is around 30, loaded in a game with open background applications I haven't seen it go above 52.
I only have positive things to say:
- Amazing build quality
- The packaging is rich in extra equipment (cable extensions, 3, 4 pin connectors, thermal paste, screws, etc.)
- Very easy installation even for beginners
- Doesn't cause any issues with RAM in any slot (I have HyperX Fury Black)
- Silent
For me - if not the best with what it offers - one of the best.
It's worth its money.
- Excellent cooler so far (purchased in March 2016).
- Possibly the most powerful with a 120mm fan from Noctua, absolutely silent and with a 6-year warranty.
- For aesthetic reasons only, the stock fan was replaced with a Corsair ML120 Pro Led.
- I have used it with 4 different processors: i7-4790K, Ryzen 1700X, i7-8700, i7-10700K.
- I didn't want to risk the huge NH-D14 and NH-D15 with their 140mm fans, because based on dimensions they barely fit in my case (mini case).
- With the NH-U12S (158mm height), none of my processors have ever exceeded 60°C, not even in stress tests with overclocking.
- Pay attention if you have 4 RAM modules as it is highly likely to affect the 1st module.
Awesome temperatures... I have it on my AMD FX 8350... okay, simply fantastic is the only way I can describe it. In light applications, we're talking about temperatures around 20-25 degrees. The nh-u12 series is not randomly awarded.
