It smells so much that you can't stand in the room! Rubber and petroleum with chlorine. I haven't figured out if it's the material or the water that smells like that. Also, if it smells like that without using it or when it heats up... And I can't understand why since I received it and plugged it in, it smells throughout the house. I use it at night for a little while and the rest of the 24 hours, I keep it on the balcony hoping it will lose its smell over time... What can I say... Poison... As a heating pad, it does its job even though it doesn't heat up as much as I would like. If I knew about the smell issue, I wouldn't have bought it at all

It is what it promises.. The only negative is the strong smell! Like mold... On the first day, I left it on the balcony, now it's the fourth day of use. It still smells, but less and less every day... Maybe it happened to mine... I didn't contact anyone since I decided to keep it.

I'm coming back after 2 months of use. The smell took a while to go away, but it did and it works perfectly after daily use all this time.
