Description

From 2008, with the youth "uprising" of December, until today, with the emergence of the new Cypriot issue, social-political developments have been marked by the onslaught of nationalism. Right-wing and left-wing nationalism. Left-wing nationalism? Yes, because there is also left-wing nationalism. We encountered it in the mass mobilization of the "Indignant" and in the so-called "Movement of the Squares". In the social and political calls for the formation of the "new EAM", in the unrestrained demonological conspiracy theories, in the glorification and adoption of a miserabilist discourse, in the concise "anti-plutocracy" with a left-wing veneer, in the Germanophobia. We saw it being formed as a political force, recording significant percentages in the May and June 2012 elections, even threatening the country's European perspective. Some of those who refused to see this new reality began to realize it when they saw the enthusiastic reception given to the phenomenon of Bepe Grillo and, above all, when they witnessed the unprecedented political cooperation between left-wing and right-wing nationalists with the "new Cypriot issue" as a pretext. A large part of the so-called "movement Left" encountered and embraced a caricature of the "nation", an indeterminate figure of "national socialism" with interwar and fascist markings, through the use of populism as an ideology.

The texts in this volume attempt to analyze this reissue of an ideological morphology called "left-wing nationalism". And to show why nationalism is not the solution to the major problems of trust and representation faced by the Greek political system.
