The R33BT speakers from Edifier belong to the category of self-powered studio monitors. This means that they have a built-in amplifier, so they do not need to be connected to one in order to function. They are used in professional or home studios as they reproduce neutral sound, a characteristic that helps in mixing and music production. The power is 10W RMS and it is 2 way, meaning the sound frequencies are reproduced by two speakers, one tweeter for the high frequencies and one woofer for the low frequencies. The size of the bass driver is 3,5". Finally, you can connect wirelessly via bluetooth.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Personally, I bought them for less than half the price, at €30, otherwise there were other options in the same brand with more W.
They have a pretty good sound, for my ear, I would say they have exceptional sound, just don't turn them up all the way, one click below full volume and everything sounds nice and clear. So, 3.5 to 4 stars for their regular price. At the price I got them, 10 stars and it's still not enough.
Also, the Bluetooth, although version 5.0, seems to have quite a bit of lag and it's not my phone's fault as I have tried it with other speakers. **Correction: I connected them with a Bluetooth dongle to my desktop computer and the lag is minimal. It was the mobile app's fault.** If their price ever drops, then yes, they are worth it, but if it stays where it is, no, as I said, there are other more powerful options.
The build quality is very good!
Wooden with rubber feet for vibrations.
The downside is that the power cable and the audio cable from the main left speaker are without connectors, directly connected. If the cable gets cut, someone will need to open it to fix it. I think it's a minor issue, just mentioning it. And finally, the front mesh easily comes off for anyone who doesn't want it. When it's in place, it has a distance of about 3-4 millimeters all around, it doesn't fully close the speaker, so it doesn't offer much protection against dust
