The challenge of effective political and social commitment and citizen engagement remains a rather difficult prospect, given that in recent years the democracy index has decreased globally. Younger generations have distanced themselves from conventional politics in several democratic countries and express their dissatisfaction through abstention and refusal to vote in elections. With this specific book, the aim is to encourage educators to involve students in democratic political practices, in existing participation models by adapting and renewing their strategies, such as election simulations, participation in civil society through discussions and events that can influence public dialogue. Students, through discussion in democratic learning environments, gather knowledge about the political process and social events of their time and develop democratic skills. Strengthening political interest, promoting democratic behaviors and attitudes, and educating about democracy as a value is expected to result in increased levels of youth participation in social and political life.
