The main reason for buying a POLAR is the heart rate monitor, it is the TOP wrist heart rate monitor available. This specific POLAR is designed for Trekking, so it has GPS, compass, altimeter, route recording, return home, one-week battery life, and overall durability in various conditions (rain, cold, mud, etc.). It also has an XXL strap so you can wear it OUTSIDE your sleeve.
It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and you can check the weather, sunrise-sunset, and adjust your music. THAT'S IT. That's where the smartwatch part ends. Also, all these functions drain the battery!
Each "screen" of the POLAR has many settings and functions that are all executed with buttons (three on the right, one on the left, and one for "light"). Although the screen is touch, it is not particularly useful, especially if your hands are dirty, sweaty, frozen, or if you wear gloves (you're going TREKKING after all!)
One function that puzzled me is the GPS, which is also difficult to find the satellite in OTHER GPS WATCHES, not just this one.
