I have had a cold sore around the edges of my lips in a bad condition. I decided to use it in addition to zovirax cream, and it really helped a lot!
The issue is that I had an allergic reaction and the next day I developed intense rashes all over my face and neck. I eventually went to the doctor and he prescribed me Bilaz and Valtrex in case the herpes flares up again.

If I catch it early, the cold sore doesn't come out and it disappears in 3-4 days along with the swelling. If I don't catch it early, I continue with 2-3 pills and I see that it recedes much faster than without. After 2 years, I no longer have cold sores and I have stopped taking it, and if... if it happens to come out, I catch it as mentioned above.
