[...] The Lives of the Saints are the Gospel in Action, meaning that what Jesus taught, the Saints lived and testified with their lives. This is precisely what is revealed within the pages of our book, the lives of the Saints of our Church, which are "testimonies of Jesus Christ" through which the inexpressible love of God for the world is revealed, as well as man's love for God. Of course, there are many books on the lives of the Saints, including many editions of Synaxaria, and we do not intend to overlook them, as we draw our information from them. However, we have made an effort to provide a brief biography of the Saints with the sole purpose of daily teaching from the example their lives offer to contemporary Christians, who are pressured by many things and have very little free time to engage in the study of the Synaxaria.
The reason that led me to this publication is, on the one hand, my ten-year involvement with the Church's Radio Station on a daily basis with the Saint of the Day, and on the other hand, the commendable collaboration with Mr. Savvas Kypris, with the sole purpose of the spiritual edification of our people. We do not refer to detailed biographies but to a few elements capable of presenting the life in Christ or the martyrdom of the Saint, because today, unfortunately, the world remains bound to the earth and material things, thus losing the perspective of heaven, and the lives of the Saints of our Church become a cry of awakening, a compass that shows each of us our lost destination. Our Lord clearly told us that the purpose of life for every person is holiness "and you shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy..." (Lev. 20:7).
