"The Enneads" by Plotinus (204-270 AD) includes nine independent texts, where the great Neoplatonic philosopher discusses ethical and epistemological issues, such as virtues, happiness, the origin of Evil, dialectic, the nature of man, and the question of Beauty. It is representative of all his writing periods and the writing techniques that Plotinus employs in his other works. In this book, the foundations and fundamental principles that govern his philosophical system are presented, which is usually presented as a reconstitution of Plato's thought, but with the parallel use of methods and concepts drawn from the work of Aristotle. The "Enneads" largely outline the final major composition of ancient philosophy, which also influenced the three civilizations that developed subsequently: Byzantine, Medieval Western, and Arabic."
