Description

The Kingston Fury Renegade is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in the field of video and image processing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory unit.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with our motherboard specifications.

The Fury Renegade provides speed at 3600MT/s, with CL16 and 16GB per memory unit.

Compatibility

The DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Specifically, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors, as well as the latest Intel processors, and AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you must ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

The XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory, without the need for manual settings. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Fury Renegade (XMP 2.0) profile with the following specifications:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 3600 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 16-20-20
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.35V

Cooling & Design

The aluminum cooling material, with its design including fins for heat dissipation, keeps the memories at a relatively low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

They played on a B450 Tomahawk Max II with Ryzen 7 5700x and the latest BIOS update from the last date listed on the MSI website, and it wasn't even on the motherboard's QVL. However, I took the risk because it had a similar kit that had RGB and I didn't choose it, and in the end, I went with this one. After running Memtest86 for 4 passes for 7 hours with XMP enabled, I didn't encounter any problems with these specific memory modules. The price was very good, I would say around 100 euros, and it's Dual Rank CL-16-20-20-39 Hynix CJR, especially if you want XMP to work consistently and don't want to mess around with timings and do the job. I would say it's a very good choice.

I got it to replace a 2x8 G.Skill 3600C16 in combination with an AMD 5900x and Crosshair VI Hero motherboard. Although I read that some people had issues with this specific kit, everything went smoothly and it worked right away. I haven't noticed any difference compared to my old RAM, even though it had slightly better subtimings.
