I first tried it to solve the problems that had started to occur in my wrist and back due to extended use of a mouse for work. With this specific technology, the problems were solved and did not reoccur (I usually spend 8+ hours on the computer) as the only movement required is that of the thumb, with the rest of the hand remaining stable. Additionally, since it does not require a specific surface to work, the hand can be in any position needed to relieve the wrist, shoulder, and back. It definitely requires some adjustment for the brain to easily operate it, but as far as I remember, I had completely adapted to it within a week. I find the accuracy to be better than traditional mice (with the laser underneath) and occasionally use it for gaming as well. On the negative side, firstly, the trackball easily collects dirt from the thumb and transfers it to the sliders, resulting in limited responsiveness (although it is easy to clean). Secondly, the receiver requires a USB port to connect (which is why Logitech released the M575 variation with Bluetooth connectivity, as well as the newer Ergo). The range and connection are excellent from my experience, and I always have one connected to my Smart TV (which is sometimes 4 meters or more away) for use as a YouTube remote control. Its durability is generally good and it can definitely withstand falls, but its long-term durability is not the best. I had one that lasted 6 (and) years and another that failed at 2.5 years. Double-clicking (faulty left button contact) and a faulty scroll wheel are the problems it usually presents. Cleaning it with compressed air sometimes completely solves the problem (but not always). The AA battery lasts for 8 months or more with daily use. Lastly, if the price seems high for a mouse, I agree, BUT if you have (or don't want to develop) wrist-shoulder-back problems due to position and long hours of computer work, it might ALSO solve your problem and save you money, time, and pain for doctors, physical therapy, and painkillers.

The build quality is not that great, I would say it's plastic, so it's also quite lightweight. However, I don't mind it being lightweight, it just could be more durable. As for the range, I don't think there's a reason to go 5 meters away from the screen because it's clearly meant for work, so I don't have any complaints about that. The buttons are noisy, although it doesn't bother me that much, I think it's similar to a classic mouse that costs around 10-15€. The price in Greece is unacceptable, I bought it from America for 25€.

It is bulky enough to prevent you from moving it around and only using the trackball. At first, using it may seem strange if you don't have prior experience with a similar mouse, but you get used to it in less than a week.
